Here is the latest information available on the REM's official website.
Sporadic service interruptions will continue during fall and are expected in September until October 3.
Final opening is still predicted for this fall, but no date has been confirmed as yet.
On April 5, 2025, dynamic tests began between Du Ruisseau and Gare Centrale stations on the Deux-Montagnes branch.
The time slot allocated for dynamic tests is between 6 a.m. and 1 a.m.
This is essentially the same schedule that will be offered once the REM is in service. This phase follows the first trains arriving last March.
Testing
1. REM cars operated at low speed between April 5 and 8;
2. Completion of track work; cars did not operate during this period;
3. Testing is scheduled to resume around the beginning of May, with speeds similar to those that will be used when the REM is in service.
Operators will be on board initially, and once all safety standards have been met, the cars will be driven automatically from the control station, as planned when the REM was commissioned.
In recent weeks, the first cars have traveled through the Mont Royal tunnel. An important milestone that initiated the testing period conducted under real service conditions.
The goal is to replicate REM operating conditions, with the same frequency and speeds of up to 100 km/h depending on the sector.
Commissioning
The next steps in the REM network's commissioning in 2025 include the opening of the following segments:
• Phase 2: West Island, North Shore, and Downtown Montreal segments, scheduled for fall 2025 (October).
• Phase 3: Airport segment.
