Starting June 21, river shuttles are back on the Saint Lawrence River, offering Montrealers and visitors an eco-friendly, enjoyable, and practical way to travel between shores.
With six active routes, early morning departures, and extended evening hours, these river crossings are now fully integrated into the metropolitan transit network.
Summer 2025 marks the much-anticipated return of river shuttles in Montréal—an initiative by the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) that promises to turn urban commuting into scenic nautical getaways.
Since June 21, six shuttle lines have been navigating the Saint Lawrence River, connecting key locations such as the Old Port, Île Sainte-Hélène, Pointe-aux-Trembles, Varennes, Boucherville, and Île Charron.
These shuttles are more than just a mode of transportation—they offer a unique experience that blends utility with pleasure.
Whether commuting to work, attending a festival, or simply enjoying a ride on the water, passengers can bring their bikes aboard and take in a new perspective of the city.
New this year: departures for lines N1, N2, and N3 now begin at 6:00 a.m. to better serve early commuters.
Additionally, the Old Port–Île Sainte-Hélène–Longueuil route now runs until 11:00 p.m., allowing users to make the most of their summer evenings.
